This past weekend, I had the incredible honor of serving as the guest vocal instructor for Sounds of ZAMAR: A Vocal Series — Part I, a dynamic training experience designed to help singers strengthen their voices, deepen their musicianship, and grow together in community.

Hosted by ZAMAR, this event brought together more than 40 singers participating both in person and online for an interactive vocal training session focused on the foundational elements of healthy singing, choir ministry, and musical growth.

As the owner of LyricalLove Music, a vocal coach, music director, songwriter, and recording artist, I am passionate about helping singers develop not only their vocal abilities but also the confidence and mindset needed to use their gifts with purpose. This workshop provided the perfect opportunity to combine practical vocal education with encouragement, fellowship, and ministry.

A Foundation for Growth

The theme of the workshop centered around building strong vocal foundations that singers can continue developing throughout their musical journeys.

Participants explored topics such as:

• Breath support and vocal control

• Placement and resonance

• Solfège and ear training

• Vocal range awareness

• Finding and understanding choir parts

• Listening and blend

• Pitch and tuning

• Timing and rhythm

• Vocal confidence

• Choir communication and fellowship

  
  

Through discussion, demonstrations, listening exercises, and group participation, singers gained practical tools they can immediately apply in rehearsals, worship services, performances, and personal practice sessions.

One of the most exciting moments was watching singers become more aware of their voices while encouraging one another throughout the learning process. The room was filled with energy, curiosity, support, and a genuine desire to grow.

More Than a Workshop

What made this experience especially meaningful was the sense of community that developed throughout the session.

Music ministry is about more than singing notes correctly. It is about connection, service, unity, and creating an environment where people feel empowered to use their gifts.

Throughout the day, participants were encouraged to embrace growth over perfection, listen intentionally, support fellow singers, and pursue excellence with humility.

The result was a learning experience that strengthened both musical skills and relationships.

About Sounds of ZAMAR

Sounds of ZAMAR is a three-part vocal training series created to equip singers with the tools, knowledge, and confidence necessary to grow in their artistry and ministry.

Part I focused on establishing foundational vocal skills and musicianship concepts.

Future sessions will build upon these fundamentals with more advanced training designed to challenge participants, expand their abilities, and help them reach their fullest potential as singers and worship leaders.

ZAMAR continues to create opportunities that bring together musicians, worshippers, and community members through education, fellowship, and faith-centered growth.
