🔎 STEP 1: Check YouTube First!

Seriously. Don't create work for yourself. 😂

Someone may have already created exactly what you need.

Go to YouTube and search the song title + one of these:

Okay... NOW we bring in LALAL.AI. 😂

💻 STEP 2: Have Your Song File Ready

LALAL.AI needs an actual audio or video file that you can upload from your device.

Supported audio formats include:

• MP3

• OGG

• WAV

• FLAC

• AIFF

• AAC

• M4A

Supported video formats include:

• AVI

• MP4

• MKV

• MOV

• M4V

For most LyricalLove Music students, we recommend MP3 because it's simple, widely compatible, and easy to save, upload, and practice with.

If you already have a high-quality WAV or FLAC file, even better! Higher-quality source files can give the separation software more audio information to work with.

IMPORTANT: Having a YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, or other streaming link is NOT the same thing as having the actual file on your device.

Only use music files you have obtained legally and are permitted to use.

✂️ STEP 3: Separate the Song

Go to:

https://www.lalal.ai/

Choose "Vocal and Instrumental" and upload your song.

LALAL.AI will process the file and create separated versions for you to preview.

Depending on what you're practicing, you may be able to work with:

🎤 Lead Vocal

🎶 Backing Vocals

🎹 Instrumental

🎵 Instrumental + Backing Vocals

This is especially helpful when you LOVE the background singers but suddenly realize you have absolutely no idea what they're singing. 😂

👂 STEP 4: LISTEN Before You Start Performing

Don't immediately remove the singer and start belting over the instrumental.

Listen first!

Use the vocal track to study:

• Melody

• Rhythm

• Entrances

• Phrasing

• Breathing

• Pronunciation

• Harmonies

• Timing

If you're learning background vocals, isolate them and listen carefully before trying to sing along.

Your ears need practice too! 👂🎶

🎤 STEP 5: Now Try the Instrumental

Once you actually know the song, practice without depending on the original singer.

This is where you find out:

"Do I actually know this song... or was Beyoncé helping me the entire time?" 😂

Practice with the instrumental and pay attention to whether you can maintain your:

• Melody

• Timing

• Lyrics

• Breathing

• Dynamics

• Confidence

If you lose your place, go back to the original or isolated vocal, listen again, and try it again.

That's PRACTICE!

🎶 Bring Your Tracks to Class

Once you have your practice tracks ready, save them somewhere you can easily access during your lesson.

Bring them to class so your teacher can help you work through difficult sections, breathing, timing, harmonies, vocal technique, and performance.

And please don't wait until you're standing in front of your teacher to start searching your phone for the file. 😂
