Love Our Nation recently gathered students, families, alumni, instructors, volunteers, and community supporters for its End of School Luncheon Showcase at MAD Arts in Dania Beach, Florida.
The event celebrated the growth, accomplishments, creativity, and confidence of the youth participating in Love Our Nation’s programs. Through speeches, music, dance, cultural presentations, alumni testimonials, and community recognition, the showcase highlighted the heart of Love Our Nation’s mission: empowering young people with the life skills needed to become healthy, productive contributors to a more prosperous and loving community.
About Love Our Nation
Love Our Nation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization established in Florida in 2013. The organization’s mission is to educate and empower youth with life skills that support healthy choices, personal responsibility, education, leadership, and community impact. Its key initiatives focus on Health, Education, and Preservation of the Environment.
Since 2015, Love Our Nation has served the Dania Beach community by offering programs free of charge to youth and families. The organization began with the Earth 2 Table gardening program at C.W. Thomas Community Center and the Dania Beach Patch, later expanding into an after-school safe zone with homework assistance, health and nutrition education, dance and wellness, financial literacy, golf instruction, and field trips that expose students to new experiences and opportunities.
Leadership and Community Support
The showcase was led by Ms. Ovrill, Co-Founder and Co-Director of Love Our Nation and Shontal Prince, Director/Performance Coach and Founder of LyricalLove Music. Their leadership and continued commitment have helped shape a program rooted in mentorship, education, wellness, discipline, and youth empowerment.
The event also brought together a dedicated group of instructors, tutors, alumni, and community partners, including Shelia McCray of Wasani House for African Drum and Dance, Isabella Sanborn, Natalia Sanborn, and Grace Hailey of S.T.E.P. for dance, Christopher LaFranc for choir, and Ruby Grace and Ovrill for speech tutoring and student preparation.
LON Alumni Rachel Buchanan, Aselah Davie, and Mamadou Cone also participated, helping demonstrate the lasting impact of Love Our Nation beyond a single school year.
A Showcase of Growth
The End of School Luncheon Showcase gave students a platform to share what they learned throughout the year. The program included the Love Our Nation Pledge, student speeches, a choir performance of The Other Side of the Rainbow, a dance performance of This Is Me, a gifting ceremony, alumni testimonials, African Drum and Dance, and a closing luncheon.
One of the most meaningful parts of the afternoon was hearing students speak about their own accomplishments. Each child had the opportunity to practice public speaking, reflect on their growth, and present themselves with confidence in front of family, mentors, and community members.
Building Confidence Through Performance
Shontal Prince, Founder of LyricalLove Music, served as Director and Performance Coach for the showcase. In this role, she helped support the students with stage presence, vocal projection, public speaking, transitions, performance confidence, and overall show flow.
Her work helped bring structure to the event while supporting the larger mission of Love Our Nation: preparing young people not only to perform, but to lead, communicate, and believe in their own potential.
Why It Matters
Programs like Love Our Nation show what can happen when a community consistently invests in its youth. Through education, mentorship, wellness, the arts, cultural enrichment, and hands-on learning, students are given the tools to grow into confident, capable, and compassionate leaders.
The End of School Luncheon Showcase was more than a performance. It was a celebration of discipline, courage, creativity, community, and the power of believing in young people.
