Allergies stopping you from practice?

For Singers, Allergies are like an enemy that never goes away for good! The best thing we can do is find way to get rid of them temporarily, especially on singing days!

Here are some allergy relief tips:

  1. Identify your allergens: Identify the allergens that trigger your symptoms by keeping a journal or working with an allergist.

  2. Avoid allergens: Try to avoid exposure to the allergens that trigger your symptoms as much as possible. For example, use a HEPA air filter to reduce indoor allergens, keep windows and doors closed during high pollen seasons, and avoid pets or animals that trigger your allergies.

  3. Keep your home clean: Regularly clean your home to remove allergens, such as dust, mold, and pet dander. Use a vacuum with a HEPA filter, and wash bedding and curtains regularly in hot water.

  4. Use nasal saline rinses: Nasal saline rinses can help to flush out allergens and relieve congestion. You can use a nasal saline rinse kit, or simply use a Neti pot or squeeze bottle to irrigate your nasal passages.

  5. Take over-the-counter medications: Over-the-counter medications, such as antihistamines, decongestants, and nasal corticosteroids, can help to relieve allergy symptoms. Be sure to follow the instructions on the label and talk to your doctor before taking any new medications.

  6. Consider allergy shots: Allergy shots, or immunotherapy, can help to desensitize your body to specific allergens over time. Talk to your doctor about whether allergy shots may be a good option for you.

  7. Practice good hygiene: Wash your hands regularly and avoid touching your face to prevent the spread of allergens.

Remember to talk to your doctor before trying any new allergy relief methods, and to follow the recommended dosage and usage instructions for any medications you take.
